To rig a Magnum downrigger, simply attach the weight (or Cannonball) to your line with a 'line release,' place the rod in the rod holder, and lower the weight to your desired depth. While trolling, the weight of the Cannonball keeps your lure at your desired depth and allows it to 'swim' more naturally behind the weight.

When a fish takes the lure, the line release lets go of the line, and the fish is on. At this point, remove the rod from the rod holder and reel in your catch.
